Freezing Strawberries!

Last weekend we were grocery shopping at Wegman’s and came upon a special promotion for strawberries. “Wegman’s stores in New Jersey will be celebrating “Strawberry Days” from July 13 – July 15. Driscoll’s Berries are having a fundraiser at the supermarket to benefit The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey, a foundation whose aim is to provide loving families for orphaned children and to keep the family environment safe for kids.” (Burnett)

So naturally we bought two giant packages! Anyways we had A LOT of strawberries, so we decided to freeze one package and keep one fresh. This is what we did:

Rinse and Remove all of the stems and leaves. Then cut them in half (to make it easier to blend in smoothies :).

Then lay them out on a cookie sheet and make sure they are not touching. Only one layer. Then throw them in the freezer for 24 hours, remove and place them in a freezer bag/container! Done! You have smoothie fruit ready in your freezer! Or type in frozen strawberry recipes into google and have a blast! Enjoy!
